Dr. Robert Otterbeck is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology residency at NYU Langone Health, where he served as chief resident in his final year, and then pursued a fellowship in interventional pain management within NYU's Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care, and Pain Medicine. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and his undergraduate degree from Villanova University.

Dr. Otterbeck focuses on the evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions affecting the spine, joints, and peripheral nerves. He works with patients suffering from conditions such as low back and neck pain, sciatica, disc-related pain, arthritis, post-surgical pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and neuropathic pain. His approach emphasizes accurate diagnosis, conservative care when appropriate, and image-guided interventional procedures and neuromodulation. He believes in treating each patient as an individual, taking the time to understand how pain affects their daily life and tailoring a plan to restore function and quality of life rather than simply masking symptoms.

Prior to joining Visco, Dr. Otterbeck served as Director of Interventional Pain Medicine and Director of Anesthesiology in New York City. This combined background across both the procedural and perioperative sides of care gives him a uniquely broad perspective for managing patients across a wide range of pain states.
